Rain, Rain, Go Away

To the mall again
I don't know what it is, but weekends at Brown are some of the funnest. I guess I find the sheer joy in waking up super late, not worrying about class or feeling the warm air early in the morning. Today was a bit different, I actually felt like I had a great night's sleep and I was ready for the day to begin. My roommate woke up earlier than me again, and we had a pretty nice conversation just before I left. I just now realized that my roommate is a great listener, and I was happy to share my story with her.

The plan today was simple: have a picnic with Jenny and go Zumba, but mother nature had a different plan for us. Since it was raining, Jenny decided to give us a couple of options for the day. We picked the option of going to the mall (again) to eat lunch and watch a movie right after. Of course with an all girls cohort we couldn't possibly leave the mall without shopping. This time I didn't buy anything, with the exception of an iced latte from Dunkin' Donuts that will probably keep me awake for the night. Today was calmer, since I basically went around the whole mall on Saturday, so we decided to actually watch a movie. We ended up watching Transformers 4: Age of Extinction. I must say that it was an action-packed movie and I really enjoyed watching it with my friends. I thought that this Transformers movie wasn't going to be as cool as the previous films, simply because Shia LaBeuof wasn't the main protagonist but Mark Wahlberg did a fantastic job in filling in his part.
Movie Time
After the movies we made our way back to the dorms. There was an Action Panel workshop that we had to attend from 7-9 PM. The panelists were Tenzin, Stanley, and Ria. Each talked about their Action Plan and gave out helpful tips that boosted my confidence in my Action Plan. My favorite quote of the day was from Stanley: "Failure is only failure if you don't learn anything from it". This quote gave me hope and understanding that it's okay to fail since we learn a lot from our mistakes. They also talked about the people whom we should talk about for Action Plan. We just have to show that we are passionate about our Action Plan, to convince people to join. It seemed like a short day, and we didn't really do as much, but I really appreciated the Action Panel since now I feel that I am able convince the students in my school to join me. My first week at Brown University has been a success. I wonder what this last week has to offer.

  1. While there's some wisdom in what you were told about learning from your failures, it's also permissible to succeed the first time around, too. Just something to keep in mind.
