Singing in the Dorms

It's finally the weekend, and you know what that means? Sleeping in! After the first full week of class, I've been deprived of my sleep these past couple of weeks, including my trip to France, so it was great that I was able to get my full 8 hours of sleep. Since today was the free day for many of the summer students, we decided to use this day to go shopping at Providence Place downtown. I was pretty excited, since this was basically a day in which we took a break from class, to just have fun.

On our way to the mall
Providence Place was such a magnificent place. It was four stories tall, with a wide variety of stores. I was, however, kind of sad that there wasn't a Nike Outlet or Sports Authority, since I was planning to buy some athletic shirts and gear. But I didn't let that affect my shopping experience. I was finally able to buy some shoes that I've wanted for quite a while, even at it's price.

Most of the girls were bargaining shopping, but I was literally walking around specific athletic stores trying to find the shoes that I wanted.

One trait that I dislike about me is probably my indecisiveness, especially when it comes to shopping; I had trouble deciding the type of material that I wanted for my shoes. But with the help of Magaly, YeonSoo, and Thao, I was able to make my decision and buy the shoes. Along with my shoes, I also bought two Pokemon t-shirts that I thought were super adorable and worth to let go.

After about 4 hours of endless walking and window shopping, we quickly grouped up and presented our newly bought apparels to each other. We also calculated and estimated the total amount that we spent throughout the day. With that being said, we just agreed to try and not spend too much money for the remainder of the week. Personally, I spent about $95 dollars in total. The crazy thing about it was that I only bought 3 things. I know, I should spend more time in the clearance section, and to be honest, I tried.

Because we love to eat
After the mall, we met up with Jenny at Flatbread Pizza Company, where we had one of the best flatbread pizzas one could ever have eaten. Seriously, or maybe because I was really hungry. But I enjoyed spending time with my cohort and chaperone once more.

Next, we made our way downtown to see the Waterfire event. It seemed like a really big thing here in Providence, so we decided to give it a go for our Saturday night. It wasn't as big as I thought it would be however, it was literally wood being lit up on fire in the water. I appreciate the effort though, but I expected some explosions or firework-like things that would light up the night sky, so I was a little disappointed. The worst part was probably walking back to the dorms by ourselves, up the hill, in the dark. Thao, YeonSoo, our new friend Stephanie, and I were separated early from the group with Jenny during the waterfire. They went home early unknowingly, and they took a taxi back to the dorms while the rest of us walked. It was alright, I guess I could use the extra exercise to burn off these calories, and we also stopped by for shaved ice along the way.

I was satisfied with this day, not just because I bought new shoes, but also because I spent time with close friends. The best part of the night was when Thao and I went caroling around the dorm rooms and sang our heart out. We would knock, and once they opened the door we would sing in harmony. Everyone's faces were priceless and you can see that they enjoyed our wonderful voices. It was a great event to end the night. Watch out, we might be coming to a door near you.

  1. Again I'm reading about all of this sleeping in. What's the world coming to?

You all seem to be writing such nice things about this mall in Providence. Surely it can't compare with Hilltop Mall.

  2. I love how you wanted more out of the fire, but safety comes first lol I don't disagree with taking time to decide on items and the amount you spent today, but I bet you will take great care of your items and each dollar will be accounted for :) I hope you get rest :)
